Heartfelt journey ... by Khaya Sol Gebashe

Heartfelt journeys compels one to introspect.

Extreme amounts of hours spent on flights doesn’t equates to emotions shared and left behind (at home). Let me repeat it; Extreme amount of time is spent travelling the world on business mostly away from the loved loves in search for value to provide for them.

Countless lonely amounts of time in hotels, restaurants and conference venues is spent longing to be next to those we love, to share emotions and experiences we encounter. Comforting words are shared among each other saying “i-Job yiJob” we chose this industry and it’s disadvantages.

Openly we can say we travel the world without really seeing the it fully, nor noticing all that is happening in front of us. Pictures are taken and share in the digital space, that’s what social media is for right!
We like programmed human machines if there is such. No sense of human acknowledgement, creation and spaces we in, who we with and what makes them tick-tack. As the clock tic-tocs, we hope to do what we desire most, to see what the world offers but the schedule has its demands too tic-tocking the time away. Traveled or not, time waits for no man I heard once said in class.

The amount of books, movies and beauty experienced while in flights can’t equate to the love we left behind. The demand of roles held at home, kids’ noise, partners, laughter, fights at times and just being in your space carries such an amazing amount of emotions.
The fabulous star graded hotels, rented cars and high-classed restaurants are a highlight for a short-while until the realisation that such emotions are best shared with loved ones. Traveled or not, treasure those you love period ... or is it klaar?

Time spent in trains, buses, taxis basically in travel prove the outcry to make a difference where we from and beyond. Traveled or not, never forget your roots.
The determination to make a difference in the world clouds the horizon of those aimed to influence. I see people with headphones everywhere yet no one is dancing nor seems to be enjoying what they listening too. Up, down, left, right and centre people pace as if in a walkathon chasing after time or is it exercise? I can’t tell. All I know is what I’m experiencing, a deep sense of disconnection among human race. Traveled or not, you might understand what I’m talking about.

Pretense smiles are shared as individuals wake pass each other, the only realisation shared without words is the colour of skin we in. The labels, borders, religion and names of countries one is from seems to be written invisibly on foreheads. Traveled or not, we all foreigners somewhere, I once heard from google. The hope I have is that we not foreigners in our own skins.

The food experienced daily is labelled Kosher, Haalal, Mexican, Indian and Portuguese or Traditional if not African just the way we see each other. Traveled or not - divided we fall, together we stand. again, I once heard comrades shouting that out loud.

I stand to be corrected, traveled or not we are all human race - In pursuit to make the most and the best of who we are. In pursuit to challenge boundaries, change for better and inspire, motivate and encourage. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?" – Marianne Williamson wrote those powerful words.

So, traveled or not – this race is far from being finished. Be inspired, motivated, and influential and above all, let your light shine for you and others. heartfelt journeys compels to be shared but also compels us to introspect ourselves.

My Love

My Love, Our Love

My love.

My love for you…
...doesn’t make headlines on newspapers...
...doesn’t pose on shop windows...
...doesn’t drive in flashy horses, trains, limo’s or airplanes

My love for you doesn’t wear designer clothes...
...doesn’t eat fancy food daily...
...doesn’t give false impressions...
...my love for you doesn’t feed on pride or show-offs

My love for you doesn’t doubt itself...
...nor compare itself to others...

My love, My love, My love

My love for you is what it is
My love is concentrated...
...Rich...
...Real and Present

My love for you is Simple...
...Straight...
...Genuine...
...Endless.

My love for you is pure Love.

You hate?!!

You hate me ...

I never imposed on you

I never stole from you
Or share ambition
yet you hate me

For decades you kept such hatred

Deeply rooted in your veins
You've been fed hate
Told stories about me
Lied to so you can hate

You full of hate ...

You've been denied a room to think on your own
Given ammunition to hate and you accepted
You hate, when you know the poison you fed
Why you hate me?

Why do you hate me ...

I share what I have in me
My pride beneath & on top of the soil
My life in valleys and joy in the plain fields
My beauty in the karoo & my scenes in ukhahlamba
Yet you passionately hate me!

Afrika is big for all yet you want it for yourself

Greed dominates you uncontrollably
You mark territories naming them yours
In places you found freehold
Just so you can be superior & worthy to those who didn't see your worth

Why you hate me?

Is it self hate directed to me, I ask myself
Is your sight still clouded by hate from your ancestors
Is your mind unable to see good that needs to be done
Is self hate so much that it flows out of your skin effortlessly?

Why do you hate?

When you can love, love self & others
When you can accept differences
When you can think on your own
Act on your own thoughts & decisions

Why live your ancestors dreams and faults

Why be chained by chains used for slavery
Why perpetuate your self hate to others
Why not deal with self and accept your flaws
Why you continue to hate?

To this day you hate

Under influences you still hate
You fight passionately to be superior
Lacking kindness and Ubuntu to your own
Selfish and arrogant without shame

Your hate is so toxic ...

You fearful and pretentious in your so-called space
You wanna lead & be heard in spaces of those you hate
You full of hate, you toxic with hate
Why do you hate so much, why do you hate so much?
Leave hate friend, love life!

Loaded vessels

Simanzi nte!Simanzi nte!
Soaking wet!
as I walked the streets - faces are full of smiles
ears are wrapped in beats by Dre
yet hearts are heavily loaded...
...loaded with loads

words are mumbled every second
voices are not heard
yet faces are full of smiles
hearts are heavily with loads

streets are crowded, pathways are jammed
up and down movements resemble ants at work
yet no work is done but judgments fela

pillows are soaking wet
endless cries continue within
high walls stop noises from within
cries for help yet in the morning masks are worn
smiles are pulled on and beats by Dre rock on

status updates are written
full of wisdom - life - joy - happiness - fun - love
yet hearts bleed sadness - anger - unhappiness - self doubt
these loads are carried with masks on
nicely hidden and beautifully dressed

airwaves make noise with solutions not heard
Billions are spent on programs to help
Passions are shared endlessly to ease the loads
yet these loads are locked deep under the masks

they part of daily clothing and the makeup worn
part of places accustomed to and people known
part of sorrows and joys experienced but no peace inside
these loads are labelled and given names
fancy names at times as heavy as they are

heads are loaded, seeking empty bins to fill
these loads are heavy in heart, spirit and mind
yet there is no place to empty them

religion - marriage - politics, heavy loads
loads of culture - life - families
race - work - failure
loads of doubt - esteem - lack of confidence
assurance - support - fear

loaded as we are, we walk tall daily
clothed in our masks, dressed in belts of self-judgment
and updating those statuses without fail
loaded ... loaded ... loaded!

Impilo - Life!

To some it is worthless
Yet some live it worthwhile
To some it has no value
Yet some give it value

Impilo seems unbearable
Some wish to end it
while others long for it
Some are hopeless
While others seek to make the best of it

Its lived like it's forever
Parked like most dreams
Shelved as many goals
Forever is a dream itself
Yet some know impilo is borrowed

Life is God's gift
A treasure to some
A mystery for others
An unscripted movie

Take or live it, life is given
Treasure it or throw it, it's yours
Influence or be influenced, it moves on
Life allows you to do all
Yet some still fail to see its significance

Your take is your choice
Life is a treasure
Give it, never take it

Nomakanjani, STAND!!

In spite of all the pain, hurt and tears
I’m still smiling.
In spite of all the storms, judgments and being secluded
I still love.

In spite of anger, violence and turmoil
I still have hope
In spite of starving, not having shoes and being cold
I value life.

In spite of fear, doubt and timidity
I’m still optimistic.
In spite of being broke, alone and discouraged
I’m still standing.

In spite of all the hurt, pain and tears I caused
I’m forgiven.
In spite of all the hardships, I’m still standing…

I’m standing under His grace,
I’m full of hope,
I’m spirited and motivated,
I’m optimistic,
And I’m me.

Stand through all,
Stand with him,
Stand as you are.
Stand, stand…

As others succeed ...!!

Why watch as others advance in life?
Why complain as others make history,
Why fight as others find solutions,
Why be negative in thought while others are actively positive.
As others succeed, some fail
Others run towards goals while some crawl away from them,
Some find love as others keep losing it,
Others take their lives while some fight for it,
Do choices govern paths taken in this world?
As you climb higher, you pulled down
Others go through cold and dark mornings to be robbed the least they make
Others strive to make an impact in people’ lives while others work against those efforts.
Again, our paths are they governed by choices?
As others succeed, I choose to succeed

As others complain, choose to correct

As others are bitter, choose to do better

As others criticize, let’s choose to follow Christ.
As others succeed we can succeed too!
